WELCOME TO FLORIDA YORKIE RESCUE
Florida Yorkie Rescue is a designated 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of Yorkies, Morkies & Malteses under 12 lbs. If you need to surrender your yorkie for whatever reason, a permanent and loving home will be found. We guarantee it!
FYR is not a shelter. It is a group of volunteers who work with rescued dogs in our own homes. All costs associated with the care of our dogs come from adoption donations and from the generosity of donors. We provide medical care, spaying/neutering, socialization and training of these dogs until a permanent home can be found.
Through the commitment of our volunteers, FYR also strives to educate and counsel all pet owners about spaying/neutering, obedience training and other aspects of responsible pet ownership. Our organization encourages people to adopt Yorkies, Morkies, Malteses and other pets from shelters, humane societies, and rescue organizations. Florida Yorkie Rescue also provides assistance to adoptive homes to ensure the welfare of all dogs adopted through our organization.
Our number one commitment is to the little Yorkies that come our way. We treat them as if they were our own babies! We carefully screen all applicants to assure your family pet is placed in the most stable and loving home where they will be doted on for the remainder of their life!
Millie LaRue & Mummy is now "Cooking for a Cause!" This new charity cookbook donates a portion of all proceeds to animal rescues and shelter groups. Millie LaRue, the little diva of Yorkshire terriers, asked her friends from around the world to share their favorite recipes--some of them secret family recipes that have never before been revealed! There are over 350 recipes in this FULL COLOR, HARD COVER book. Many of them include a short story about the origin of the recipe, along with prepared dishes and darling pictures of the contributor's own doggie. There are tips throughout the book, from Millie herself, on how to make your cooking experience easier. Seven chapters are devoted to human recipes, while the last chapter is dedicated to doggie fare! So while you are cooking up something for the family, why not whip of a little treat for Fido too? Rigby's heart surgery was only partially successful. He was left with some moderate heart damage which will require medication for the rest of his life. His deformed leg cannot be removed at this time because a lengthy surgery is not recommended but it doesnt appear to bother him at all. His prognosis is good and in many ways he appears to be a normal young yorkie like so many others but will need a special home.

Natasha's elderly owner was admitted into a medical facility. Poor Natasha was kenneled with her older yorkie housemate for three months. You can only imagine how stressful that must have been for them both. Two days after they left the kennel, the older yorkie died and then the owner died. Poor Natasha lost everyone she ever loved. Florida Yorkie Rescue took her in as she turned 16 years of age. She is now deaf and blind and in the beginning stages of liver failure but she is comfortable and receiving quality medical care. This is how seniors should be treated; not thrown into an impound center to sleep on a concrete floor. Natasha was admitted into our permanent foster program and will live out her life with no worries in an environment filled with love and compassion. There are so many more yorkies out there just like Nastasha. Please help us help them. We are currently creating a Senior Yorkie Sanctuary. Florida Yorkie Rescue is the parent non-profit for Yorkie House of Hearts.

If you have any questions we prefer you email us instead of calling.
Our adoption committee will review each adoption application. We will choose the families that can best suit the needs of each individual dog. If you are being considered, we will call you to schedule a telephone interview and then check all of your references. The final step is to schedule a home visit at which time we bring the yorkie you are interested in for a "meet and greet."
Our dogs are not free. For an explanation of our requested Adoption Donations, click here.
