Taco needs your help!
Sometimes is can take a village to save one tiny little sick Yorkie named Taco. A BIG thank you to Elsy Reyes and Paula Gossett for racing to this yorkie's aid to get him transported immediately to our Vet Hospital where our Vet and staff members were on stand by waiting for his arrival.

VET BILL AS OF 2/18/2013 = $3,376.45 so far
Includes Ultrasound, Blood Work and 24 Hour Care at the Emergency Care Facility, Plus an MRI. Taco is scheduled for a Liver Shunt repair surgery on Thursday, March 21st. Estimated cost is $2600.00 but this is only an estimated amount.

February 15, 2019 - We received an emergency call from someone who took this little puppy out of a bad situation. He was covered in ticks and fleas and was very ill. The couple who had him for four days did the best they could but had no money to bring him to the Vet. They called us for help. They knew he was very sick. We knew when speaking to the couple that this was an emergency situation. Within one hour our volunteers had picked up Taco and transported him to our Vet Hospital. By the time he arrived he was unresponsive.
After getting him stable an ultrasound was done and the Vet discovered he had a Liver Shunt. He is also blind and has Hepatic Encephalopathy.
(Hepatic encephalopathy is a decline in brain function that occurs as a result of severe liver disease. In this condition, your liver can't adequately remove toxins from your blood. This causes a buildup of toxins in your bloodstream, which can lead to brain damage.)
Also noted was that the white part his eyes are blood red which could indicate a trauma or intention blunt force injury to his head. Our Vet does not have a 24 hour care facility so he was moved over to an Emergency Care Facility on Friday evening where he will remain until Monday morning, February 18. We will post an update on his condition when we know more. Right now he is in critical condition.
