Susie is another "breeding" dog whose sole purpose was to supply puppies for her owner in spite of having special needs. You see Susie only had three legs. The eventually breeder gave her to someone who promised her a good life. Unfortunately she was turned over to someone who did not treat her very well at all (which you can clearly see by the photographs we have documenting her condition upon arrival) and she subsequently had at least two more litters that we know of. Her latest litter was born on September 25th and the puppies were 4 weeks old when they all arrived. The puppies (two females and one male) are yorkies mixed with Chihuahuas. They will be ready for adoption some time in December. Please visit this page often for updated photos and videos.
November 4, 2013 - Susie ended up having "milk fever" so we had to wean her puppies. They are over 5 weeks old now and quite able to eat on their own. Momma Susie has not been as healthy. She repeatedly fought off dehydration, has a dangerously low level of calcium in her blood, has had severe diarrhea and is very underweight. She has been under Vet surpervision for the past week and we finally have her feeling better by feeding her quality food and supplements. Now that she is no longer required to nurse her puppies she is able to begin building up her own strength.
