~ INTRODUCING PUMPKIN~

Pumpkin is only two years old and has already had two litters of puppies. She was surrendered to us on September 18, 2014 and her puppies were in very bad shape. They all appeared to be malnourished, tick infested, dehydrated and extremely tiny for being 6 weeks old. Pumpkin had a litter of 4 girls and one boy. One of our transport angels raced to get them but by the time we got to our Vet hospital, the little boy was doing poorly. He died 30 minutes later. We were all heartbroken. The females were in better shape except for tiny little Priscilla who was also crashing. The Vet managed to bring her back from the brink.. and after they all were semi-stabilized they were brought to my home so I could monitor them throughout the night. Little Priscilla was too weak to nurse so had to be fed with droplets of formula.

September 19, 2014 - The puppies made it through the night and were all brought back to the vet the next day. Since only one seemed to be doing well, we did a blood test for anemia. Three puppies were anemic and required blood transfusions so Pumpkin and her litter stayed at the clinic for the remainder of the day. I picked them up at 5:00 p.m. They rallied in the evening and seemed much improved. Even tiny little Priscilla now began to nurse from her Momma. They alos all ate canned puppy food like little piggies.

September 20, 2014 - I returned to the Vet's office today so the three who had been given blood transfusions could have the "ports" removed from their necks.

Final Update - It was a lot of work but the remaining puppes and Pumpkin all survived. They gained weight and became very healthy. All the puppies have now been adopted. We are grateful for all the donations and prayers for this little yorkie family!
